Are you registered to vote in Alaska?

Alaska statute requires that to be eligible to vote in a state or municipal election, you must register at least 30 days before that election. If you are already registered, you do not need to re-register each time.

The next election is Tuesday, August 26, 2008. This is the statewide primary election.  If you wish to vote in that primary election, you must be registered by Sunday, July 27, 2008.

Who can vote?
A person may vote at any election who:

  • is a citizen of the United States,
  • is 18 years of age or older,
  • has been a resident of the state and of the election district in which the person seeks to vote for at least 30 days just before the election,
  • has registered before the election registration deadline, and
  • is not registered to vote in another jurisdiction.
