The purpose of Youth Vote is to build enthusiasm for life long engagement in our local, state and national electoral processes, and to provide the skills to do so.
The expected outcome of Youth Vote, through the leadership of the League of Women Voters of Anchorage, along with our planning partners and student leaders from each Anchorage area school, is to:
- Build skills through the creation and distribution of educational resources on the electoral process
- Generate enthusiasm through the production of a student-lead, televised live candidates’ debate
- Provide opportunities to become actively engaged by providing a forum for youth to get to know candidates and their positions on issues
- Provide experience by coordinating a mock election for state and federal candidates on the general election ballot
- Provide opportunity for youth to become involved in Election Central activities on Election night.
